Since having my daughter, being pregnant and breastfeeding made me really dig deep to research what I was putting on my skin and into my body. Am I claiming to be 100% perfect all the time.. HA NO!! However I firmly believe that we can all make a difference one product at a time in what we put on our beautiful bodies. As a professional makeup artist, I hope to change the way you view your makeover experience- not just “covering up”, or “slapping more on”, but truly brightening your best features. Makeup is not a “one size fits all.” I craft each look customized to your skin tone, eye color, wardrobe and desires. I am CONFIDENT about what I apply on your skin, I know that each brand I support aims to leave small footprints on the planet, provide non toxic ingredients, and also save our sweet fur friends.
Kara Waggoner Beauty began in my home studio aka “kitchen” of Richmond VA in 2016. With an amazing hubs pushing me to chase my dreams, I literally started from ground zero. I fell in love with the city of RVA and all of my sweet clients over the past 4 years. Relocating to the eastern shore of Maryland, I am back on my old stomping grouds ready to get you glam on your big day! 2020 has been a year of change, growth and reflection. Princess Waggoner (and big fur sister Lilly) is often mommy’s secretary and has challenged me to be a better wife, mom, and business owner. I have totally revamped my beauty kit to contain only the best non-toxic, vegan, cruelty-free, long- wearing products. I am committed to continuing to seek out sustainably sourced and ethical cosmetics companies to support. My clients deserve to have beautiful, airbrushed, glowing skin on their wedding day without worry!
JUST A LITTLE GIRL WITH A DREAM….I still remember my mom-mom taking me to the Clinique counter when I was 9 years old. I felt like a princess applying my "rouge" as she called it. It was love at first sight, I was hooked. 10 years following, in 2004, my professional makeup artist journey with MAC cosmetics began. YUP- I actually quit nursing school to follow my heart. After becoming advanced certified, I moved to Tampa, Florida to take on a new challenge as Operations Manager for MAC at International Plaza. Pursuing my dreams in 2009, I took on the big apple, New York City, where I opened the Shu Uemura Counter in the flagship store Bloomingdales on 59th Street. I was trained under the lead master artists of the Shu Uemura brand and embraced my new city life living in Chelsea. Over the past 16 years (I swear I'm on my “6th” 29th birthday lol), I have also had the honor of working as Store Manager for Bare Escentuals, ULTA Prestige Beauty Manager, Macy’s Cosmetic Department Manager and finished my retail highlight as Territory Manager for Laura Mercier for MD/DC/VA. The most memorable day of my career was working with GUESS and Calvin Klein and supermodel Danielle Knudson. I have also had the honor of working with Lisa Martinaglia, South African supermodel.
